Jon Buschur Named NSCAA All-American

Metro FC is proud to announce that Jon Buschur from Carroll HS and the U18 Metro FC Rapids has been named to the NSCAA All-American team. Jon is the only player from the Dayton area to receive this prestigious award. Metro FC Director of Coaching Kevin Arcuri said, " We are extremely proud of Jon and his accomplishments. He is an outstanding player and a natural leader on and off the field. Jon is very deserving of the award and we are honored to have him in our program." Jon will continue his playing career at the University of Dayton next fall.

Metro also had the following players named to the NSCAA All-Region Team: Mary Turvy (Fenwick), Drew Basil (Chillicothe), Josh Schultz (Dayton Christian), Sam Bryant (Beavercreek), Joe Halula (Springfield Catholic Central) and Buschur (Carroll.) Metro FC dominated the All-Region awards this past season, boasting the most players in the Dayton area to earn the NSCAA honors.

 

METRO FC HAS TOURNAMENT SUCCESS AT CASL SHOWCASE

Metro FC enjoyed more success at the CASL Showcase this past weekend in Raleigh,NC. The CASL Showcase is one of the counties largest recruiting events and have more than 300 college coaches attend each year. Metro FC had the only boy's teams from the Dayton area accepted into this prestigious event. Following the success of the U15 Coraggio Premier Girls and the U16 Girls Rapids from two weeks ago, the U17 and U18 Boys Rapids teams finished at the top of their groups. The U17 Rapids are coached by Metro FC Technical Director David Wall. The U18 Rapids won both of their games this weekend and are coached by Metro FC Director of Coaching Kevin Arcuri. Also doing well were the U16 Rapids. The U16 team, coached by UD Men's Assistant Kiki Lara and Tony Saliba, went 1-1 on the weekend. The U17 Boys play in the Elite Division of the Buckeye Premier League and the U16 and U18 Rapids play in the top Division of the prestigiuos Midwest Regional League (MRL.)

The Metro u18 girls finished tied for first in their group at the Germantown Invitational Tournament. The team is coached by Chris Clouse. Congratulations to these fine teams for respresenting Metro FC and the Dayton area well this winter!

 

METRO CORAGGIO PREMIER U15 BOYS WIN GIT

Congratulations to the u15 boys Metro FC Coraggio Premier team for winning the Germantown Invitational Tournament this past weekend. The GIT is a nationally known showcase tournament that is held just outside of Memphis, TN. The team won their group in preliminary play and then defeated a strong Galaxy team from Illinois 1-0. EJ Sanford (Fairmont HS) scored the tournament winning goal off of a cormer kick with only five minutes remaining in the game. The Coraggio Premier team is coached by Metro FC Technical Director David Wall.

 

METRO FC SUCCESS AT CASL SHOWCASE

The Metro FC girl's side of the club had a great weekend at the CASL Showcase November 20-22. The CASL Showcase, held in Raleigh, NC, is considered one of the best college recruiting events in the country and regularly has over 300 college recruiters in attendance. The U16 Rapids won their group and the U15 Coraggio Premier team lost in the semi-finals. The U16 team is coached by former UD standout Liz Rose. The U15 Coraggio Premier team is coached by University of Dayton Women's Assistant Sergio Gonzalez. The U17 Rapids were also inthe showcase and finished a 0-2-1 after battling injuries in the first game of the event. Congratulations to all three teams for representing the Dayton area very well at this prestigious event.

Metro FC will not be holding supplemental try-outs this winter. You need JavaScript enabled to view it to schedule a try out opportunity. Any players that are interested must be uncarded and/or have permission to speak to other clubs from MVYSA. We do not have spots open in every age group, however, there are some ages that could potentially need a player or two.
