METRO FC JUNIORS RECREATIONAL SPRING SOCCER Developmental Program for Boys and Girls Ages 5-10 DATES: Saturday mornings, beginning April 13, 2013 thru May 18, 2013. PLACE: Delco Park in Kettering Fun games and soccer activities for skill development are followed by actual small-sided games. Groups are organized by our experienced coaches. Players will be divided by age and ability when possible. Tentative Weekly Schedule – subject to change based on overall number of participants, exact times will be posted on the website by April 5 9:00 AM – Ages 9-10 10:00 AM – Ages 7-8 11:00 AM – Ages 5-6 Also open to Pre K children who will be 5 by Aug 1, 2013 (Parents of Pre-K participants will be required to stay during the sessions) Equipment: Soccer cleats, shin guards, soccer ball (size # 4) and water bottle Philosophy: De-emphasize the need to win, while maintaining a high level of challenge and instruction. Emphasis placed on foot skills with the ball, general coordination and motor skills through small-sided soccer games and activities, home practice ideas and developing a passion for the game. Metro Juniors Recreational Programs Additional Info
Metro F.C. runs two recreational soccer programs per year. In the spring we run a program called "Metro Juniors” and in the fall, we run The Metro Juniors Recreational Soccer League. The Metro F.C.Juniors Spring Recreational Program is an innovative and exciting new approach to recreational soccer and development of young soccer players. Former Wright State head coach, Mike Tracy along with experienced college and high school players and Professional Metro FC Staff Members, team up to teach kids the fundamental technical skills required to advance as a player. There is a heavy emphasis placed on small sided games and activities that keep the kids entertained and having fun, but at the same time teach proper technique and maximize the number of touches the players receive each session. The Spring season begins in early April and runs each saturday through the end of May. Sessions are 60 to 90 minutes depending on age. The focus is not on teams and games but rather developing each childs skill level and appreciation for soccer. The Metro Juniors Fall Recreational League starts with practice in August and games later that month thru the first week of October. All games are played at Delco Park on weeknights Monday thru Thursday. The recreational program fields teams by school grade, from K to 6th grade. Practices are set at the coaches’ discretion, following United States Youth Soccer Association guidelines. The Recreational League is one that gives all kids equal opportunities to play and focuses on fun and development. MIKE TRACY HIRED AS TECHNICAL DIRECTOR FOR THE METRO JR.'S RECREATIONAL PROGRAM
Metro FC is proud to announce that Mike Tracy has been hired as the Technical Director for the Metro Jr.'s Recreational Program. Mike is the former head men's coach at Wright State University and has been a staff coach for Metro FC for the past three seasons. Mike will oversee the Metro Jr.'s program and primarily focus on the spring training program and coaching education and player development during the fall league season. Dave Kelsey will remain on as the Metro Jr.'s administrator and will continue to handle the registration and admin side of the program. |
